Drunk Elephant Slaai Review | HG for Sensitive Skin?

SOOOOOO. IDK about you but I really don't like using products with essential oils in them every day. That is a highly sensitive topic in the beauty community, I think. Some people love them, some people hate them. I am someone that personally really thinks that they are mostly unhelpful/unnecessary, and also that they have the potential to be vastly irritating. That being said, I also love skincare, and I'm unwilling to entirely limit myself to skincare that purely exists without EOs. Mostly because...... You guessed it! The pool of completely non-fragrant options is MINISCULE. Say it with me, kids, insignificantly tiny. It's derrrrrpressing. That, and, I seem to be able to tolerate some of them, in small amounts. Anyway, this whole ramble was basically to get me to this point: I've been SEARCHING, with my whole heart, for an EO-free cleansing balm, that I can use daily without any fear, FOREVER. AND HERE SHE IS.

Slaai What?

Slaai is a "Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser," and I can attest: it is quite buttery. It's rich and emollient, and honestly lovely. Did I just spoil myself? Oh, well. It contains "Fruit Salad Blend" which is a non-fragrant blend of fruit extracts (blueberry, kiwi, and strawberry) and oils (cranberry seed, watermelon seed, etc) to soothe, replenish, and moisturize the skin, and a "nourishing oil blend," which is a combination of light oils (marula, baobab, etc) to moisturize. Included in the packaged is also what's called "Bamboo Booster," which is a powder you can add into the balm comprised of bamboo and charcoal powder, intended to gently exfoliate the skin. As with all Drunk Elephant products, this is safe for all skin types and is free of their usual "suspicious 6."

The Result

The experience of using this, in my opinion, is excellent. It does have a slight scent, but I honestly can't smell it when I'm using it, and the scent doesn't bother me at all anyway. You only need a T I N Y bit to take off a whole face of makeup-mascara included. I made this mistake many a time. The result of using too much is really just a more "nourished" experience, if I'm being totally honest, and if you're double cleansing (which I am an advocate of if you're wearing multiple layers of SPF or makeup), it honestly doesn't make much of a difference. As I mentioned, this takes off all of the make up. All of it. With no filmy eye regions (aka: a blessing). It doesn't irritate my skin at all. It hasn't broken me out-not even a little bit. I'm honestly hugely impressed. I know Drunk Elephant has come out with quite a few interesting and trendy products in the past year, but this was the one I was most excited for, by a long shot. I saw photos of it on Instagram a few days before they announced the launch and I was HYPE. I'm so glad it exists. I love it. I'm a fan. If you're a double cleanser or a fan of balm cleansers: I feel like you must try it, honestly.

That's all, friends! If you try Slaai: I hope you love it. And if you've already tried Slaai: I hope you love it! Thanks for reading. Until next time, cheers.
