Clean Routine Beauty Box: Subscription Box Overview (& Save 20%!)
June 5, 2018
Not to sound overly dramatic, but many people don't realize that a lot of cosmetic and beauty products contain a large number of harmful and/or carcinogenic toxins and chemicals AND that most of what is put on skin is ultimately absorbed into the blood stream. (AKA: why are we allowed to put those things on our faces?). Different countries have different regulatory practices for what can be distributed within markets, and (I am not super knowledgeable in that realm) the US has a pretty lax policy on what is acceptable. But where do you even start with a beauty routine overhaul? How does one make the switch to a cleaner, more conscious routine? Clean Routine Beauty is a pretty new thing to me, but it's pretty great. It's an online based subscription service that ONLY includes clean beauty brands (read: brands that are free of harmful ingredients). The idea is awesome, and the woman who founded it is an inspiration. Her name is Amy and her realization regarding toxins and carcinogenic ingredients came during her own battle with cancer. She is a fighter, and a survivor, and through her struggle she made a commitment to not only help herself, but to help others. She founded Clean Routine Beauty to make it super easy for people to collect clean beauty items each month, and in the process learn about what brands to look out for.
What is it and how much does it cost?
Like I mentioned, Clean Routine Beauty is a subscription service. It ships once monthly, and there are different pricing tiers (basically, the more months you pre-pay for, the more you save). One individual box retails at $29.99, three months of the service is $74.99, 6 months is $159.99, and one year is $299.99. Each box includes 4-5 deluxe samples (sometimes full sizes!) of clean beauty products (skincare and make up alike), and the total retail value is between $45-$60 per box!
My CRB box experience
I have received one box from CRB, and I was super pleased with the contents. It came with four products, all of which were full sized items! Included in my box: Berlin Skin eye butter, a New Heights Naturals sunscreen stick, a Kiss Me Honey lip balm, and a Lily Lolo mineral eye shadow. All four of the items are really good. I love the eye cream, the sunscreen stick is super convenient, the eye shadow is a gorgeous, pigmented neutral, and the lip balm smells and feels amazing. Overall, I was super impressed with the quality of everything included (the entire box retail total was $89.98, which makes $29.99 an insane value).
I would 100% recommend this subscription service. I feel like it promotes conscious consumerism and has the potential to open eyes about beauty products, and the beauty industry, in general. The value is awesome, and the variety was welcome. I will definitely be putting everything I received to good use.
