Sol De Janeiro: A Brazilian Body Experience Everyone Should Have.
April 9, 2018
It will come as no surprise to anyone that I am a massive fan of fun, new takes on body care. I am an all around beauty enthusiast, of course, and I truly love to indulge in luxury when it comes to caring for my body. Self-care is the purest act of self-love, so why not invest in something that will make you feel GOOD when you use it? Sol De Janeiro is a brand I've seen countless times on social media, in Sephora, and, really, everywhere. The bright yellow packaging can be seen a mile away and it's instantly recognizable (kudos for that marketing, btw, SDJ). I've always viewed it as being luxurious, and I decided to try it for myself, to see if it was anything more than your usual, run of the mill, body care. Here are my thoughts.
Brazilian Kiss was the first Sol De Janeiro product I purchased myself, and I would be lying entirely if I didn't say it's the only lip moisturizer I've used since it reached my hands. I am OBSESSED with this stuff. I have eternally dry, extremely sad lips, and I have been looking for a hydrator that actually does what it claims for literal years. I think I've found it. Brazilian Kiss has it all. Lets start on the outside. I LOVE this packaging. It is such a fun play on your typical lip balm packaging, and I am here for it. I love the novelty of the oversized white lid, I love how it looks like a thin Bum Bum cream, I just love it. Now for the inside. This stuff is jam packed with cupuaçu, açaí, and coconut oil, making it nourishing and hydrating. On top of that, it leaves this glorious, non-sticky sheen that will enhance the natural color of your lips (PS: the scent is out of this world). It is the littlest luxury, and it makes the biggest difference. All in all, this is a 10/10 for me. You will never again in this life find me without this on my person.
Brazilian Touch Hand Cream*
I work in a medical practice and am constantly washing my hands (because germs), and I have been on the hunt for a luscious, hydrating hand cream that withstands washing for literally ever (not literally, but it sure does feel like it). I've gone through millions (again with the not literally), and none of them ever seemed to be very effective and I would continually plow through tube after tube, because a harsh consequence of hand washing is constant dryness. This one works like a dream. It FEELS luxurious, and has a phenomenal scent. It has the same cupuaçu, açaí, and coconut oil blend that Brazilian Kiss has, with added Brazil nut to help protect nails. It smells of pistachio and salted caramel, and I swear I don't have to reapply it every time I wash my hands which is a miracle. Another huge plus? It leaves my hands feeling so silky soft, I can't stand it. Again, with the "you'll never catch me without this," thing, because, truly, it's amazing.
Okay, so, let me tell you how much of this I have used in the past two weeks, because it's a whole lot of it. I am OBSESSED with this (have you gotten tired of hearing that yet?). This scent smells of the traditional Sol De Janeiro Pistachio and Salted Caramel (AKA: amazing), and it lingers in the most subtle and beautiful way. It's not irritating to my sinuses (which is a huge win because perfumes and mists can bother me), it goes on strong, but not too strong, and it fades to this gorgeous undertone that hugs you throughout the day. I'm not typically a fan of body mists, but this one exceeded every expectation I had. It acts much differently than ones I've used in the past. And bonus, spray it on your hair, clothes, or body, and you achieve the same results. So delicious, so wonderful.
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Last, but certainly not least, Bum Bum Cream. I personally think this product is a miracle in a pot. It has lovely, unique packaging. I love the fact that it's in a pot and not a tube. The consistency is silky, buttery, and delicious. It smells heavenly (pistachios and salted caramel). It is incredibly hydrating, fast absorbing, and it makes your skin smell like you live on a tropical island (who doesn't need that every day of their life?). It is luxurious, and it's a staple hydrator for me. Basically, I think it's worth every shred of hype anyone has ever breathed over it.
Bottom line: I'm sold. This brand screams summer. I love that it's inspired by and true to it's Brazilian roots. And I love that the products feel so lush and indulgent. It has made body care exciting for me. I'm grateful I discovered this brand, and gave into the hype. Thanks for reading along. Until next time, Cheers!
Sol De Janeiro was kind enough to send me each of these items. However, the one's denoted with an asterisk* I had not used prior to receiving this generous gift.
