Moon Fruit : Is it Magical?

Its super rare for me to just pick up a product with no forward thought into the matter. I am a Google-er, a researcher, and insanely detail-oriented and picky about what I put on my skin. I recently came across Herbivore Botanical's "Moon Fruit" on Sephora's website, and, in the spirit of transparency, was 100% drawn to it because I absolutely loved the vibrant lavender shade, and the aesthetic of the packaging (Herbivore REALLY gets it in the aesthetics department). I had NEVER heard of it before, barely having even heard of Herbivore as a brand. I read Moon Fruit's description and was intrigued; a deeply hydrating, nourishing treatment that also gently exfoliates while I sleep? Um, sign me up yesterday for that one. I didn't read a single review, and didn't even look at the ingredients (shame on me for this one, tbh). I purchased it, and, without reservation, dove head first into that beautiful purple bottle, and I am NEVER looking back. I am absolutely in love with this product, and I'm going to tell you why.

What is Moon Fruit?

Moon Fruit is a deeply interesting product to me. It's a night treatment packed with "super fruits:" Prickly Pear, Goji Berry, and Raspberry Seed; enzymes: Papaya, Lemon, Orange, Bilberry, Cranberry, and Maple; exotic butters: Kokum and Shea; and hyaluronic acid. So we have all of the components of something literally anyone can love. The enzymes are to gently resurface, the super fruits are meant to nourish, calm, and rejuvenate, the exotic butters are for hydration, and the hyaluronic acid is there for moisture retention. Essentially, what we have on our hands is an exfoliating compound that calms any irritation that the enzymes could cause with all of the other components within it. Resurfacing properties can cause dryness and irritation, so adding butters, HA, and antioxidants cancel that potential out (or, at least, greatly decrease the potential). It's really an excellent concept, and I love seeing chemical exfoliants utilize this approach, because some people don't want 32 steps in their routine. Moon Fruit is like a three-in-one and all you have to do is apply a generous amount of it to the skin before going to bed, and it works it's magic while you sleep.

The Process & My Experience

My experience with this product has been amazing. I am usually incredibly hesitant when testing new products because I have sensitive skin, but I approached this one without reticence and I'm thankful. I did exactly as the directions said; applied a generous amount to my face and rubbed it until the purple color dissipated (There is a huge misconception that this product is a mask; it isn't (the product will not absorb, and you will see no benefits if you treat it like a mask)! The application process is pretty lengthy. The first time I used it (I may have been too generous with product, to be fair), it took me between 5 and 10 minutes to completely massage the product into my skin. When applied correctly it took, at most, 5 minutes of massaging. It's a fairly thick, whipped consistency, and does absorb beautifully; it just takes a while to get there. Some may see this as a weak point in the product, but I personally take no issue with it.

Let me just put this out there: this gains my seal of magicality, and is something I need infinite amounts of. My skin immediately feels supple and soft after use. It makes my skin FEEL so good. It doesn't promote redness or pull anything negative out of the depths of my skin. It doesn't dry me out or cause sensitivity. The morning after my skin feels, and looks, amazing. It enhances brightness, reduces redness, and I feel it encourages a youthful glow. I am so blown away by this product, I honestly cant believe it. 10/10 would recommend.

Thanks for reading along, babes. Until next time, cheers!
